'Bates Motel': Norma Knew About Norman's Visions

The relationship between Norman and Norma remains at the heart of "Bates Motel," with her other son Dylan thrown in the mix to keep things interesting. He's hardly needed on that front, though, as the mother-and-son dynamic is probably one of the most unique things ever explored on television.

"Their relationship is so disturbing, so rich and complex that even though we ‘know’ the final outcome I find myself continually surprised by the turns the show takes as well as [Vera] Farmiga and [Freddie] Highmore's performances," said IGN.

This week, Norman started opening up to people. He told Norma about the woman he saw in Shelby's basement. He also mentioned that he saw her on his bed. Of course, viewers know that there was no one actually there. As it turns out, Norma knows as well. Or at least she knows that Norman sometimes sees things that aren't there. She's just kind of accepted it, which Collider found "interesting."

Norman also had a heart-to-heart with his brother, during which he spilled absolutely everything that had happened since the pilot episode. Dylan promised to help Norman with this, as the two brothers bonded over the craziness of their mother. By the end of the episode, though, her actions had caught up to her as Norma was arrested for murder.

How will she get out of this jam? "Bates Motel" continues on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on A&E.
