'Nikita' Renewed For Season 4 By The CW

RENEWED

The CW's "Nikita" has been renewed for Season 4 and lives to spy another day, the network confirmed today. Star Devon Sawa tweeted the news.

Creator Craig Silverstein also confirmed "Nikita's" renewal via Twitter that Season 4 will be shortened, with various outlets speculating anywhere from six to 13 episodes. Deadline reports that both "Nikita" and also-renewed "Carrie Diaries" are likely to receive 13-episode orders, but that has not yet been confirmed by the network.

The perennial bubble show has carved out a solid niche for itself on Friday nights, fluctuating between a 0.5 and 0.3 in the demo but occasionally outperforming the network's midweek offerings in the ratings.

Other factors that likely tipped the scales in "Nikita's" favor for renewal include its popularity in overseas markets (an attractive prospect for production studio Warner Bros.) and the fact that it's the series closest to reaching syndication out of all the network's bubble shows.

"Nikita," which films in Toronto, stars Maggie Q as the titular heroine, with a supporting ensemble that includes Shane West, Lyndsy Fonseca, Aaron Stanford, Devon Sawa and Noah Bean
