"Being Human" has been renewed for Season 4, Syfy announced Wednesday.

The supernatural series has been picked up for a 13-episode fourth season, while the original British series on which it was based was canceled by the BBC in February.

"'Being Human' really hit its stride creatively this year," said Mark Stern, President of Original Content at Syfy. "This show has become a signature series for Syfy and we are thrilled to have it return in 2014."

According to the cable network, "Being Human" Season 3 averaged 1.8 million total viewers, including 1.1 million Adults 18-49 and 1.1 million Adults 25-54. The finale aired on Monday, April 8.

The series stars Sam Witwer (vampire Aidan), Meaghan Rath (ghost Sally), Sam Huntington and Kristen Hager (werewolves Josh and Nora).
