'Buckwild' Special 'WV To The NYC' In Honor Of Shain Gandee To Air On MTV

MTV To Air Special & Tribute In Shain Gandee's Honor

The network announced that on Sunday, April 14 at 8 p.m. ET, they will air a special called "Buckwild: WV to the NYC," which was shot before production had begun on Season 2. MTV also noted that, "with the support of his parents, Dale and Loretta Gandee," they will be re-airing the entire first season of "Buckwild" as part of a tribute dedicated to Shain.

The "WV to the NYC" special will include footage shot with "Guy Code" stars Charlamagne and Lil Duval, who visited the cast of "Buckwild" back home in West Virginia and then took them around New York during their first group trip to the city. The "Buckwild" special will air after the "Buckwild" Season 1 marathon, which kicks off at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 14.

Shain's mother Lortetta Gandee released the following statement:

"Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time for our family. We have truly felt all the love and know that Shain is resting peacefully. Shain was an incredible, outgoing, and positive person who was loved by whoever he met. We are honored that we were able to let the world see what a wonderful son we had. He was the best son anyone could ask for. As we look to honor him in our lives every day moving forward, we are happy to share some of his last moments doing what he loved best: having fun and making people laugh."

MTV cancelled "Buckwild" a week after 21-year-old Shain was found dead in a car due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Shortly after the news broke of his passing, the network halted production on Season 2, which had already filmed a few episodes.

After the cancellation, MTV released the statement below:

"After careful consideration, MTV will not be moving forward with season two of "BUCKWILD" in West Virginia. We love the cast and the show and this was not an easy decision, but given Shain's tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him. Instead, we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately."

Tune in for MTV's "Buckwild" marathon at 2 p.m. ET and for the"Buckwild: WV to the NYC" special at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 14.
