Dog Helps Nurse A Litter Of Kittens (VIDEO)

This Dog Likes To Play Mom To Kittens

A Tennessee dog named Chloe loves being a mother. She's even taken to nursing kittens.

According to WBIR, Chloe had puppies in August that no longer need her care. So when the family cat, Momma Cat, recently gave birth to a litter of kittens, Chloe immediately stepped back into the role of mom.

"I saw one nursing and I thought oh, it's not going to get any milk. It needs to nurse on mommy," owner Rebecca Thomas recalls in the WBIR video above. "I pulled it away and saw milk and realized the kitten's fine, it's getting milk."

Thomas, who lives in Luttrell, Tenn., said Chloe was a "really good mom" to her puppies. WBIR said her apparent maternal instincts might have prompted her to nurture the kittens.

Momma Cat and Chloe take turns nursing the litter, according to the news station.

Interestingly, Chloe is far from the first canine to take on this role.

Last year, a bulldog named Molly adopted four kittens after their mother died.

Also in 2012, a Calif. chihuahua named Harmony took in two sickly kittens and nursed them back to health.
