Michael Hubbard Reportedly Tries To Sneak Pet Duck And Beer Into Honolulu Court

Man, Duck, Beer: A Court Story

A guy walks into court with a duck and a beer...

This really happened, according to reports. Michael Hubbard tried to smuggle in his pet duck and a beer into a Honolulu courtroom, but screeners noticed something moving in his bag as it passed through the X-ray.

Per Hawaii News Now, guards asked him to open the bag. When he refused, they told him he would have to leave immediately. Escorted by officers on his way out, he yelled, "There's a live duck in there!"

The guards took a peek and, sure enough, there was the duck -- and the beer (two bottles by some accounts).

Hubbard, who has two assault cases pending, eventually left the duck with deputies to make his appointment inside, the Associated Press wrote. No word on what happened to the beer.

As you might expect, people have attempted to bring other questionable items into the halls of justice. A son allegedly tried to smuggle marijuana in his mouth to deliver to his dad, who faced theft charges at a preliminary hearing in Chippewa Falls, Wisc. When the son saw that court security was on to his plan, he allegedly swallowed the dope.

And last November a man came to New York housing court with evidence of the vermin problem in his apartment -- a bag of seven dead rats that he had stabbed with a fork.
