'RaiseForWomen' Challenge Kicks Off To Support Women-Focused Nonprofits (VIDEO)

WATCH: Arianna Highlights Issue At The 'Forefront Of The National Debate'

We're raising the bar on our "Raising" challenge series.

Our initial JobRaising Challenge, which garnered $1.5 million in funds and awareness for nonprofits that are focused on tackling the unemployment crisis, has prompted us to extend our efforts and create The RaiseForWomen Challenge.

The initiative will highlight women-focused nonprofits by giving voice and support to causes both domestic and abroad through blogs and a fundraising platform.

"You know, this is the year when women's issues and what we can do to accelerate women's participation are at the forefront of the national debate," Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, said on HuffPost Live.

Nonprofits that empower women are free to register for RaiseForWomen now until through April 24. The organizations that raise the most funds between April 24 and June 6 will get a portion of the prize money donated by The Skoll Foundation. Other partners include Crowdrise as the donation platform and Nicholas Kristof's Half the Sky Movement, which helps oppressed women and girls worldwide.
