Latin music star Cucu Diamante will put all her Cuban-American flavor into the 14th Havana Film Festival in New York this year.

The opening night on Friday featured the New York premiere of Diamantes' latest project comedy/musical/documentary “Amor Crónico” (Chronic Love). Directed by Jorge Perugorría, the film documented the journey of the Grammy-nominated Yerba Buena singer as she returns to her Cuban roots.

The annual event that counts on over 45 films from and about Latin America, the Caribbean, and Latinos in the U.S., will take place in New York until April 19th. From this list, 19 features are also competing for the 'Havana Star Prize' for 'Best Film', 'Best Director', 'Best Screenplay', and 'Best Documentary.'

The multi-awarded Paraguayan film “7 Cajas” (7 Boxes) is also expected to wrap up the movie marathon with a special presentation. The movie portrays the story of Victor, a poor delivery boy from Paraguay whose life centers on seven mysterious boxes he saves in his wheelbarrow.
