Tiger Woods' Statement On Masters Drop Penalty Shared Via Twitter (TWEETS)

Tiger Tweets Statement On Penalty At Masters

As the debate raged over the controversial two-stroke penalty levied against him at the Masters on Saturday morning, Tiger Woods weighed in on his punishment on Twitter.

Woods was hit with a two-stroke penalty for taking an illegal drop during a bizarre sequence at the 15th hole at Augusta on Friday when his approach shot hit the flag and bounced into the water. Before Fred Ridley of the Augusta competition committee issued a statement on the ruling, it seemed possible that Woods would be disqualified for signing an incorrect score card. Citing Rule 33, Augusta officials waived the penalty of disqualification and assessed the two-stroke penalty. The penalty dropped Woods to 1-under and left him five strokes back of leader Jason Day.

Less than two hours before his tee time on Saturday, Woods tweeted a statement about the incident and the ruling.

Not surprisingly, Woods was hardly the only one sharing thoughts about the penalty via social media.
