Boston's Professional Athletes Respond To Explosions At Marathon

Professional athletes with Boston area sports teams were among the many sharing their reactions to the explosions at the Boston Marathon on social media and sending their prayers to the victims in the horrific incident at Copley Square.

While the 117th Boston Marathon was far and away the most prominent sporting event of the day in Boston, it wasn't the only one. The Red Sox had completed their traditional Patriots' Day matinee shortly after 2 p.m., a 3-2 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. A team spokesman sent a text message to The Associated Press indicating that the Sox had reached the airport for a trip to Cleveland.

A game between the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators scheduled for Monday evening was postponed by the NHL in the aftermath of the explosions.
