When Foursquare co-founder Dennis Crowley started running the Boston Marathon, he probably thought he would just be updating his 63,000 followers on his progress and mile times using Foursquare.
After the explosions, however, Crowley started to update his followers on his and his family's safety and the developing scene at the marathon. Crowley may be one of the marathon's runners with the most followers, all of whom seemed to appreciate the live updates coming from Crowley's Twitter feed. Social media has been invaluable for those trying to get information out of Boston, as cell phone service has been disrupted. Below are Crowley's tweets thus far, in chronological order:
