Obama 'Only' Reads New York Times, Former Adviser Says

President Obama's media diet has been of interest to journalists since he entered office in 2009. The president has previously discussed perusing major newspapers including New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal. But according to a new piece in The New Republic Monday, the president has only one publication on his mind.

"There’s only one paper the president reads, that’s The New York Times," a former Obama adviser was quoted as saying in Noam Scheiber's article titled, "Get Rich or Deny Trying: How to make millions off Obama."

The Obama administration has often experienced a tense relationship with the White House press corps. Some journalists have accused the Obama White House of bestowing an unfavorable amount of scoops on certain new outlets - namely - the Times.

In a 2010 Politico article, Josh Gerstein and Patrick Gavin argued, "And at the very moment many reporters feel shut out, one paper — The New York Times — enjoys a favoritism from Obama and his staff that makes competitors fume, with gift-wrapped scoops and loads of presidential face time."

In addition to newspapers, Obama has praised The New Yorker and The Atlantic for doing "terrific work." He has also revealed that he watches "Homeland," "Modern Family," "The Daily Show," and does not like it when his daughters watch "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."
