Detroit City Council Recesses After Impromptu Protest

DETROIT — A protest against a controversial contract with the Jones Day law firm broke out in the middle of a Detroit City Council meeting this morning.

Council President Charles Pugh recessed the session as a demonstrator knelt before the council table and began singing the human rights song “We Shall Not Be Moved.”
