Jay Leno Mocks Wyandotte, Michigan's Cinco De Mayo Celebration

Jay Leno Mocks Michigan City's Festivities

Sometimes scheduling events can be a pain, especially when a holiday is involved. But late night talk show host Jay Leno couldn't help but point out a Detroit suburb's questionable planning of their Cinco de Mayo festivities.

"You can always tell places that don't really have a Mexican population," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" host said about Wyandotte in a sketch mocking news headlines that missed the mark last month. He points out the obvious problem with an advertisement for the city's Cinco de Mayo celebration. Watch Leno's ribbing above starting just after the three minute mark to find out Wyandotte's mistake.

For what it's worth, according to 2010 U.S. Census data, five percent of Wyandotte's population is Hispanic, slightly more than the Michigan average.

Mockery aside, it might not have been such a bad deal for Wyandotte. According to Patch, who first noted Leno's sketch, the image shown was of an advertisement for the Cinco de Mayo event -- they probably never expected it to show up on national television.
