Tagg Romney, the oldest son of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), told CNN on Tuesday that whoever is behind the Boston Marathon bombing "messed with the wrong people."
"It's such a cowardly act, whoever did this," Romney told CNN. "Then you see the warmth of the first responders, and the people around who rushed to the scene. Such a contrast to their bravery. It just really is a family event. And it's the best of Boston. It's wonderful to see how people have been responding and how people are pulling together."
Romney, who had just left Fenway Park in a cab with his children on Monday when the explosions occurred at Boston Marathon finish line, called the incident "a cowardly act" and said the resilience of Bostonians will help heal the city.
"They messed with the wrong people," Romney said. "There's going to be a period of grief, I'm sure there will be some anger. And we're going to want to figure out how to keep this from happening again. Not just here but all over the country."
Romney has served as an adviser to his father's political campaigns in the past, including his 2012 presidential election campaign. He is a founder of Boston-based private equity firm Solamere Capital and lives in the Boston metropolitan area with his family.
