Amanda Seyfried's upper-register singing voice was one of the biggest surprises in "Les Miserables," and in a new interview with Allure, the actress explains the X-rated way she was able to pull it off.

"Imagine deep-throating a penis, get that feeling in the back of your throat, and then sing," Seyfried said to Allure. "That's where your larynx is."

Mind out of the gutter for a moment: Seyfried, who played Cosette in the musical, stars as famed porn star Linda Lovelace in "Lovelace." Seyfried told the magazine she used experiences on that film to help with "Les Miserables."

"I had a hard time letting go of Linda at the end of the movie," Seyfried told the Associated Press after the "Lovelace" premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. "I had a really intense time with [co-star] Peter Sarsgaard [who plays Lovelace's abusive husband]. I think we both had a hard time letting go because we went to these places [...] the only thing that helped was getting onto 'Les Mis.'"

Despite the difficult shoot, Seyfried told Allure that playing Lovelace did change her: "It made me feel comfortable in my own skin in a way that I hadn't been," she said. It also, apparently, helped her hit the high notes.
