The FBI Would Really Like The Media To Please Please Calm Down

Based upon what cable news has been saying all day, there have been conflicting reports about whether someone was arrested in the Boston Marathon attack, among other things that may or may not be happening. People are standing around, looking at their cellphones, and then just reporting whatever stuff appears on their screens. Meanwhile, CNN's Wolf Blitzer felt compelled to wave around a pressure cooker on the air Wednesday, after finding out the bombs were in pressure cookers, in case every picture of every pressure cooker available on the Internet was not sufficient.

The Federal Bureau Of Investigation has put out a statement, beseeching the media to please chill, for the love of God:

Contrary to widespread reporting, no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack. Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.

Emphasis mine because duh.
