'R.I.P.D.' Trailer: Ryan Reynolds & Jeff Bridges Are Men In Black (VIDEO)

The Next 'Men In Black'?

Tired of the "Men In Black" franchise after last summer's lackluster -- if lucrative -- effort? Fear not. "R.I.P.D." is here and ready to pick up the "MIB" mantle. Black suits and sunglasses are not required.

Starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, "R.I.P.D." introduces audiences to the Rest In Peace Department, an organization of dead law enforcement officials who protect the Earth from all manner of demon and evil-doer. Reynolds plays a Boston cop killed in the line of duty, who then gets assigned to work with Bridges, an old-school sheriff with a particularly gruff manner. (Is there any other kind of old-school sheriff?) Sparks fly, as do supernatural bullets and one-liners; says Bridges to Reynolds after not shaking the younger man's hand: "No. You got to earn that."

Robert Schwentke directs "R.I.P.D.," which is based on the comic of the same name. The film is out on July 19. Watch the trailer above.
