Prince Harry Announces South Pole Race At Press Conference (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Prince Harry Will Participate In Race To The South Pole

This just in: Prince Harry has just confirmed that he'll be participating in a race to the South Pole!

That's right, the 28-year-old royal will be joining a team of wounded British servicemen and women for this year's Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge. Having served in the army himself, Harry seemed to feel quite undaunted at the prospect of facing off against the international teams.

"It just remains for me to say to Soldier On Canada, Soldiers To Summits from the US and Soldier On Australia: Welcome to the party," he said at a press conference today. "As a member of the British team, I will have a brew ready for you when you join us at the Pole."

Well aren't we feeling confident, Harry? The 208-mile trek will take place in November with Harry, aka Captain Wales, competing on Team Glenfiddich. The ladies' man has pretty good reason to be sure of himself, though -- he already completed a similar hike to the North Pole in 2011 as part of his patronage for the Walking With The Wounded charity.

For his latest walk, the prince was given a snazzy new parka at the press launch today, so we imagine he's pretty stoked. As for us, we're already looking forward to seeing the prince and his remarkable team reach the South Pole later this year.
