Alexis Neiers, Real Life 'Bling Ring' Member, Calls Movie 'Trashy & Inaccurate'

Real Life 'Bling Ring' Member Calls Movie 'Trashy & Inaccurate'

Based on the theatrical trailer, it's easy to have high hopes for Sofia Coppola's upcoming film, "The Bling Ring." Not everyone, however, is excited.

Alexis Neiers, one of the real-life thieves who broke into the homes of celebrities -- including Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom -- on which the film is based, apparently has no intention of watching Emma Watson portray her as a character named Nicki.

While responding to a tweet from Los Angeles Times writer, Amy Kaufman, Neiers wrote that after seeing the trailer, she thinks the film is "trashy and inaccurate."

In a series of tweets the former "Pretty Wild" star, wrote that the film is based on the accounts of LAPD Detective Brett Goodkin and Vanity Fair writer Nancy Joe Sales -- who penned the 2010 article that dubbed Neiers and her friends as "The Bling Ring" -- "2 people who are everything they accused us of being. Celebrity status obsessed, fame & money hungry..."

"The detective who has been caught in multiple lies and who played himself in this film and a woman who is an irresponsible, inaccurate and a dishonest journalist who is currently writing a book based on inaccurate facts. The truth will come out soon enough and I have no intention of seeing this film."

It appears as though the 21-year-old has had a change of heart since viewing the the theatrical trailer, which was released on April 23. In a blog post dated April 5, Neiers seemed much more optimistic about the project, writing that she was had "faith in Sofia’s [Coppola's] ability and in this film," despite the fact the initial teaser trailer had her worried.

"I can only hope that this movie does not just tell the story of Los Angeles teens robbing the homes of celebrities because that, I don’t believe, would have much impact on people as what I believe the real cultural obsession with what the Bling Ring is," she wrote. "The story of teens robing the homes of celebrities is artificial and has no real depth and substance and I can only hope that Ms. Coppola decides to shed light to this truth."

Neiers also wrote that "no one knows the real story behind the Bling Ring," claiming that the media has been consistently inaccurate in its reporting and that since the case never went to trial, as all the members pleaded "no contest" to felony burglary charges, the world will never know the real truth.

Neiers served 30 days of a 180-day sentence , and ended up serving time with Lohan, who was one of her the Bling Ring's victims.

It's seems clear that film's depiction of Neiers isn't favorable. Watson has previously described her character, who is supposedly based on Neiers, as "superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral."

Continued the star: "She’s all of these things and I realized that I hated her."
