5 Dead In Overnight Shooting Spree

UPDATE: 12:54 p.m. -- The victims have been identified as "a grandmother, a young couple and their two small children, 1 and 5," according to the Chicago Tribune. The suspect has died at a local hospital.

According to the newspaper:

The slain family members were identified by relatives as: Joanne Sinclair, 65, her granddaughter Brittany Luark, 22, her boyfriend Roy Ralston, Nolan Ralston, 5, and Bradley Ralston, 1.

PREVIOUSLY:

At least five people are dead following an overnight shooting in Manchester, Ill., authorities tell the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Police placed one suspect in custody and said another person was injured in the attack, according to CBS St. Louis.

The mayor of Manchester, Ronald Drake, confirmed the slayings, according to KTVI. Drake said that the shooting happened in a federal housing building.

The suspect, who went on the run for over two hours, was arrested following a chase and exchange of gunfire, according to USA Today. The relationship between the suspect and victims was not immediately known.

The incident prompted multiple schools to go on lockdown.

KSDK reports:

The Jacksonville School District 117 secretary to Superintendent Steve Ptacek said the school is closed in response to a recent shootout with a suspect on Woodson Winchester Road. North Greene Unit School District #3 is closed and WLDS Radio reports Winchester schools are closed.

Manchester is a town of approximately 350 people located 85 miles north of St. Louis.
