Robert Lewandowski may not play many more games for Borussia Dortmund but he gave fans at Westfalenstadion a few reasons to keep singing his name for years to come. To be precise, the coveted striker being chased by Bayern Munich and Manchester United gave those fans four reasons.

The 24-year-old Polish striker scored four goals as Dortmund routed Real Madrid, 4-1, in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal on Thursday night. With rumors swirling about potential transfers, Lewandowski showed that he can handle the game's biggest stage.

WATCH: Goal No. 1

In the eighth minute, Lewandowski got his right foot to an in-swinging cross from Mario Gotze. It was a stunning start from home side made possible by Gotze's play on the edge as well as Lewandoski's strong, direct run to the front of goal.

A goal from Ronaldo sent the teams into the intermission at 1-1. Just a few minutes into the second half, Lewandoski broke the deadlock. After a poor Madrid clearance gifted Dortmund possession in a dangerous spot, Lewandowski received the ball just yards from the goal. While Madrid defenders cried for offside, Lewandowski calmly turned toward net and cooly slotted home.

Lewandowski notched the hat trick with his most impressive strike of the night. Marcel Schmelzer drove a low ball into the penalty area that found Lewandowski with four Madrid defenders nearby. He controlled the ball with his left foot but then rolled it back away from the defenders with his right. Having created space with his deft footwork, he laced a powerful shot past Diego Lopez.

WATCH: Goal No. 4

Lewandowski's historic night was capped with a goal from the penalty spot after Xabi Alonso barreled over Marco Reus from behind in the penalty area in the 66th minute. Already with a hat trick, Lewandoski came to the penalty spot and sealed his historic four-goal game with a no-doubt drive.

Thanks in large part to Lewandoski's memorable outing, Dortmund is on the verge the Champions League final. In the first leg of the other semifinal, Bayern Munich routed Barcelona, 4-0.

Will there be an all-Bundesliga final at Wembley?
