Iyanla To Sasha The Diva: '[Your Son] Was Your Emotional Husband' (VIDEO)

Popular Georgia radio personality Sasha the Diva is caught in the middle between her son and her husband of two years. As 17-year-old Dominique and his 42-year-old stepfather, Kevin, struggle with a tumultuous relationship, Sasha has watched her husband's harsh parenting style and her son's rebellious behavior leave the trio in ruins. But when Iyanla Vanzant intervenes to help mend this fractured family, Sasha learns that she too played a powerful role in contributing to the family crisis.

In this clip from "Iyanla: Fix My Life," Iyanla sits down with Sasha for a brutally honest one-on-one conversation about how her past behavior has influenced the current situation -- namely, Sasha's extremely close relationship with her teenage son in the years following her divorce, prior to her new marriage to Kevin.

"You inappropriately made your son the man in your life," Iyanla says to Sasha in the clip. "When a real man showed up, you cast him off to the side."

Sasha nods and Iyanla continues, "[Your son] was your emotional husband… You took him to events, you went arm-in-arm with him."

"He's my son," Sasha says.

"Yeah, your son. Not your date," Iyanla tells her. "Not your boyfriend. But that's how you held him."

To emphasize the inappropriateness of that situation, Iyanla calls Sasha's attention to the fact that the women are having this conversation while sitting on the edge of a bathtub. "Do you get why we're sitting in the bathroom?" Iyanla asks Sasha. "For me, this is a demonstration of how inappropriate your behavior has been. It's like tea in the toilet."
