Colin Firth In New Woody Allen Movie With Emma Stone

Bad News For 'Bridget Jones' Fans

Colin Firth has had a busy week and it's only Tuesday. Late Sunday night, Latino Review reported that Firth had grabbed one of the lead roles in Matthew Vaughn's "The Secret Service," an adaptation of Mark Millar's spy comic book. Firth would play Uncle Jack in the film, a dashing MI6 agent not unlike James Bond who mentors his ne'er-do-well nephew, Gary. (No word yet on who will play Gary, but expect numerous young stars to be considered for the part).

Then on Monday night, Deadline.com reported that Firth will star opposite Emma Stone in Woody Allen's next feature. (Pause here for jokes about Firth romancing Stone.) No plot details are available just yet, but it would be the first time Firth and Allen have worked together.

All good news for Firth fans, except then there's this: In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Firth threw cold water on the idea of a third "Bridget Jones" film happening any time soon.

"Unfortunately, it might be a bit of a long wait," he said. "I wouldn't say that it's completely dead in the water, but the way it's going you might be seeing Bridget Jones' granddaughter's story being told by the time we get there."
