After learning that her stepmother had been injured in the Boston Marathon attacks, Atlanta waitress Leah Powers wanted to fly to Boston to be with her, but was unable to afford a plane ticket.

Fortunately, her co-workers at Del Frisco's steak house in the Atlanta suburb of Buckhead stepped in to help her when she needed it most.

"I found out people were donating money to try to get me a ticket up there and I'm shaking," Powers told CBS Atlanta on Thursday. "Just to know they care for me to do something like that is something I never expected."

Her co-workers talked to Delta Air Lines about getting a reduced rate on the airfare and then they all donated some money to cover the difference. Del Frisco's matched their donations.

Powers made the trip to Boston last Friday to see her stepmom, who had suffered burns over 25 percent of her body.
