Evgeni Nabokov Takes Shot To The Head In Islanders-Penguins Playoff Game (VIDEO)

Goalie Takes Hard Shot To The Head

Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov got his head in the game in New York's playoff opener against Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.

Just minutes into the first period of Game 1, Pittsburgh's Jerome Ignila ripped a hard one-timer that caught Nabokov directly in the mask. Nabokov appeared dazed for a few minutes and laid face-down on the ice.

A training staff member quickly tended to him on the ice, and the veteran netminder eventually shook off the hit.

Nabakov was pulled later in the second period after giving up four goals as the Penguins blanked the Islanders, 5-0, to take Game 1.
