Andrea Fiegle Allegedly Slit Dog's Throat For Sniffing Daughter's Crotch

A Hawaii woman is accused of slitting her dog's throat after the pet sniffed her daughter's crotch.

Andrea Fiegle, of Haleiwa, called 911 on April 28, reporting that her Pointer-Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, Star, was dead, KITV reported.

The 36-year-old bought Star for her 9-year-old daughter a few months ago, a neighbor told KHON 2.

Police say Fiegle admitted that she slit Star's throat because the animal would not stop sniffing her daughter's private parts. Investigators say she denied that the dog was dangerous or had bitten someone. Police arrested her and contacted the Hawaain Humane Society.

"We got there, the dog was already dead," HHS Community Relations Director Jacque LeBlanc told KHON 2. "There was nothing we [could] do for the animal."

LeBlanc called the incident "probably one of the worst cases of intentional death that we've seen."

Fiegle was charged with cruelty to animals, and is the first person to be charged under a Hawaiian law -- passed in 2007 -- that makes cruelty to animals a Class C felony, according to KITV.

The law made Hawaii the 43rd state in which the crime is a felony, according to the Associated Press. Under the law, first-degree cruelty is punishable by up to five years in prison and by a a fine of up to $10,000.
