D.C. Fried Chicken Makes Delish's List Of Best Fried Chicken In The U.S.

Is This D.C.'s Best Fried Chicken?

Two D.C. eateries made Delish's list of the country's best friend chicken purveyors.

Delish's descriptions of the chicken on offer at Birch and Barley and Central Michel Richard have even the vegetarians among us craving breaded poultry.

Birch and Barley:

Winner of Food and Wine's People's Best New Chef Mid-Atlantic, Kyle Bailey upgrades fried chicken with Belgian waffles during brunch service. The dish comes with buttered pecans and a maple-chicken jus, and the restaurant has a massive beer list with more than 500 bottles.

And Central Michel Richard:

Superstar chef Michel Richard is known for ingenious French-style presentations at his flagship Citronelle, but Central focuses on hearty portions of comfort food like fried chicken. His super-crispy version became so popular that he now sells pieces by the bucket for takeout during lunch.

Fowl from elsewhere that made the list: Brooklyn's Pies-N-Thighs, Two Sisters Kitchen in Jackson, Mississippi, and Harold's Chicken Shack in Chicago.

Where's your favorite fried chicken joint in D.C. (or around; we'll accept nominations from the suburbs)? Tell us in the comments!
