Robin Roberts Most Trusted Television Host: Reader's Digest

Robin Roberts Voted America's Most Trusted Television Host

Robin Roberts is the most trusted person on television, according to a new Reader's Digest poll released Tuesday.

Reader's Digest polled 1,000 Americans on the trustworthiness of 200 public figures. Roberts was the most trusted television host, coming in at #12 on the list and 56% of Americans saying they trust her.

In an interview with the magazine, Roberts said she wished her parents could see her receive the distinction. "All they wanted was for us to be trustworthy citizens," she said. "And there’s a responsibility that goes with that, and it’s not something I take lightly."

Her "Good Morning America" co-host George Stephanopoulos also got high marks, with 47% of Americans saying they trust him. Other television hosts on the list included Diane Sawyer, Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Barbara Walters, Anderson Cooper, Scott Pelley, Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer. Of the network news hosts on the list, Lauer was ranked the lowest, with 41 percent saying they trust him.

Other media personalities who ranked lower, as Romenesko noted, included Bill O’Reilly (30%), Chris Matthews (28%), and Rush Limbaugh (22%).
