High School Students Compete Nationwide To Design Sneakers (VIDEO)

These Awesome Kicks Were Designed By Students (VIDEO)

Raise your hand if you'd like to design your own pair of kicks in art class.

According to WLKY News, that's what students at Eastern High School Louisville, Ken. are doing -- and not just for fun. They're competing nationwide against dozens of other schools to design the next Vans tennis shoe.

In the video above, art students at Eastern talk about the four categories they created for their designs: art, music, sports and local flavor. And there's more to the contest than just bragging rights -- the winner gets $50,000 to put into their school's art department. These teens are off to a good start, since the high school is currently ranked second in the contest's southeast region.
