"It wasn't special, but it was enjoyable."
"He pulled out a condom and said 'care to use it?'"
"Neither one of us had a f**king clue what we were doing."
These are just three snippets from the 150+ stories that make up The V-Card Diaries, an interactive project on virginity created by Therese Shechter, director of the upcoming documentary film "How To Lose Your Virginity." According to a press release for The V-Card Diaries, it's "designed to share experiences and create community around stories about losing virginity, keeping virginity, and rejecting the concept entirely."
Viewers can click through virginity stories and sort them by keywords or feelings. The message seems to be that no matter what your story is, you are not alone.
The team behind "How To Lose Your Virginity" has been collecting these v-card stories for the last few years through the movie's blog, Shechter told HuffPost Women in an email. But the interactive version of the project was launched in February 2013, on Valentine's Day.
This month, The V-Card Diaries will be featured in the Kinsey Institute's 8th Annual Juried Art Exhibition. The exhibit opens on May 17th and will run through July 13th at the Grunwald Gallery of Art at the University of Indiana in Bloomington.
We'd like to open this discussion up to HPW readers. If you have a story about your own virginity -- losing it, keeping it, not caring about it at all -- we want to hear from you. Email a paragraph or two about your first time to firstname.lastname@example.org.
