Starting a company under normal circumstances is no easy feat. Add in a newborn baby and the venture is epic. But for many expecting mothers, parenthood is exactly the right moment to get off the corporate ladder and start their own company working from home.

"The reason why I was looking to make a switch and do something on my own was to be with my family more," said Manasi Gangan, a Boston-based entrepreneur who started Nested Bean, a company that makes a specially shaped wrap for swaddling young babies. Still, working all-out to launch a business isn't always the best way to be with family more.
