NBC Denies Ann Curry Writing 'Tell-All' Book About 'Today'

'Today' Battling New Ann Curry Rumors

Nearly a year after Ann Curry's messy ouster from "Today," the show is still battling rumors and negative press about the fiasco.

In Touch recently reported that publishers are tripping over each other to get the former "Today" host to tell her side of the story in a "tell-all book." The offers, a source told the magazine, are as high as $8 million.

The story made the cover of In Touch, with the headline, "Bullied by Matt Lauer and forced out of her dream, Ann Curry has the last laugh." The cover teased "the secret book that has her old bosses in a panic," and described Lauer as "terrified and humiliated.'"

An NBC representative, however, denied the story, telling In Touch that Curry “is not writing any book.” "Today" has dealt with an onslaught of negative press, including stories about Matt Lauer, in the wake of Curry's departure. The show's bungled management of the crisis and Lauer's reported dislike of Curry have been the subject of a bombshell piece in New York magazine and the book "Top of the Morning" in recent weeks.

When asked for comment about the book, an NBC spokesperson said in April, "We are focused on covering several major news stories this week and producing the best show we can for our viewers, not on year-old gossip."
