When two young women saw flashing lights after a wrong turn last week in Cleveland, they pulled over expecting to speak with police. Instead, the rescue of three Ohio women missing for nearly a decade unfolded in front of them.
Cell phone footage captured by the witnesses show officers swarming the home of Ariel Castro, now charged with rape and kidnapping in the case.
One witness told CNN that she saw one hostage, Amanda Berry, walking by with a police officer. When the cop asked her, "'Who are you?' she ... said 'Amanda Berry,'" according to the witness.
Gina DeJesus, Michelle Knight, and Berry remain in seclusion as they recover from years of torture inside the Cleveland home. They have said, through attorneys, that they are grateful for the support of their families, law enforcement and their community.
