Silver Leaf Ceilings That Inspire Decadence (PHOTOS)

Silver leaf ceilings are a great way to bring a touch of glamour to a room. The effect, created by installing gilded wallpaper, turns the oft-ignored "fifth wall" into a centerpiece. The shine also reflects light, creating a warm ambience.

Silver leaf isn't ideal for older homes since the paper should be installed on perfectly flat, smooth surfaces. Application is similar to that of wallpaper which can be tedious, although a similar effect can be achieved with metallic paint.

What do you think? Have you ever given much thought to your ceiling?
