The DOMA Project Spotlights 'Missing Husband,' Story Of Gay Binational Couple (VIDEO)

WATCH: Binational Couple's Tearful Goodbye Because of DOMA

"Missing Husband" is a new video featured by The DOMA Project, an ongoing campaign to ensure the reversal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which limits the rights and benefits of federal marriage in the United States to opposite-sex couples.

The clip tells the story of Jason and David, who met at an L.A. restaurant in 2007 and were married in New York in 2012.

Since Jason, from England, is not legally seen as David's husband, he is only allowed to stay for a maximum of 90 days on a tourist visa. Because of DOMA, Jason and David have been separated 17 times in their six-year relationship. Jason and David are only one of thousands of couples affected by DOMA and "Missing Husband" does a fantastic job of showing one reason why the possibility of the Supreme Court overturning DOMA in June is so critical to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Watch "Missing Husband" above, but we're warning you: grab a box of tissues first.
