Katy Perry, Russell Brand: Pop Star's Mom 'Thanks God Every Day' For Her Divorce

Katy Perry's Mom 'Thanks God Every Day' For Perry's Divorce

Russell Brand can't be too happy about this.

In a new interview with Italy's Max magazine, Katy Perry -- whose parents Keith and Mary Hudson are Christian pastors -- let it slip that her mom has some pretty strong feelings about her divorce from Brand.

"My mom thanks God every day for my divorce," she reportedly said (via The Sun).

Ouch.

It's not the first time Perry's parents have suggested that divine intervention was at work when the couple split. A week after Brand filed for divorce in December 2011, Perry's mom reportedly suggested that the split was God's way of getting people to church.

"I'm sure Katy is trending on the internet just to get you to church tonight," Mary jokingly told worshippers at the Church On The Rise congregation in Ohio. "I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012."

Well, that's one way to look at it.
