Cat memes have been around for much, much longer than we thought.

Human-Animal Studies Images blogger Corey Wrenn unearthed a series of postcards from the early 1900s that used cats to communicate anti-suffrage sentiments. Wrenn wrote: "The intent was to portray suffragettes as silly, infantile, incompetent, and ill-suited to political engagement."
