Tennyson Salopek Jacobson Fatally Stabs Intruder During Washington State Home Invasion

Wife Kills Intruder

Police in Washington say a woman fatally stabbed a home invader early Monday morning as the man grappled with her firefighter husband.

Tennyson Salopek Jacobson went to get a knife when an intruder -- believed to be the same man who robbed her one day earlier -- returned to the North Bend house around 1:40 a.m, according to the King County Sheriff's Departement. She then knifed the man to death.

The suspect -- believed to be in his 30s or 40s -- awoke the couple's dogs when he broke in. Jacobson's husband, Kyle, went to check on the noise when he found a man standing in his hallway.

Twelve hours earlier, it is believed that the same suspect attempted to rob the house. King County sheriff's spokeswoman Cindi West described the initial incident, which occurred around 1:10 p.m. Sunday, KIRO reports.

"This guy apparently grabbed her by the pony tail, swung her around, robbed her, and then either slapped or punched her in the face," West told reporters.

The couple has an infant daughter who was also in the house.

Detectives do not believe the couple knows the intruder.

No charges have been brought against the couple, according to the New York Daily News.

North Bend is located approximately 30 miles east of Seattle.
