The Wanted Gay? Jay McGuiness Says 'Most Of Us Would Have A Dabble' With A Guy

Boy Band On Gay Hook Up: 'Most Of Us Would Have A Dabble'

When Lance Bass said one of the members of One Direction is probably gay , he might have been referring to the wrong boy band.

Jay McGuiness of that other famous United Kingdom group The Wanted said that out of the five members of his band, "most" would "have a dabble" with another guy.

The "Glad You Came" singers spoke with Australia 2DayFM's "The Kyle and Jackie O Show" on Wednesday when the subject of Bass' comments came up. A host then asked which one of The Wanted is gay.

"I think most of us would probably have a dabble," McGuiness said.

"Speak for yourself," replied bandmate Tom Parker.

Whether or not McGuiness' comment was tongue-in-cheek, Bass is pretty certain that statistics prove at least one in a group of five could be gay.

Bass made his comments shortly after NBA player Jason Collins came out last month.

"Statistically speaking, one probably is [gay]," Bass said about One Direction at the time. "The market is 100 percent young women and they fantasize about these [One Direction] guys. Then you have the record labels and everyone kind of grooming you to make sure that you don't even mention that you have a girlfriend."

Bass would know. The 34-year-old, who was a member of '90s supergroup NSYNC, famously came out as gay in 2006. And he isn't the only former boy-bander to do so.

In 2011, New Kids On The Block's Jonathan Knight confirmed he is gay after fellow '80s pop star Tiffany "outed" him. Former Menudo singer and then solo Latin star Ricky Martin revealed he is gay in a 2010 blog post, saying he is "proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man." Back in 2005, Mark Feehily of Westlife came out publicly.
