Cannes Shooting Scare: Man Apprehended After Bringing Gun, Fake Grenade To Film Festival

Shooting Scare Rocks Cannes Film Festival

A man was apprehended Friday (May 17) at Cannes Film Festival after he allegedly fired a gun loaded with blanks. He was also in possession of a fake grenade.

While approaching a French TV channel's festival studio, the suspect reportedly said to a bystander, "If I were you, I wouldn't stick around here," according to France 24. No one was hurt in the incident.

According to TMZ, "Django Unchained" star Christoph Waltz was on the studio's "Le Grand Journal" set for an interview. While Waltz was rushed off the stage, the audience rose in a panic.

This is not the first unforseen event to take place at this year's festival. Last night (May 16), thieves stole $1 million worth of jewelry from the hotel room of a Chopard employee at the nearby Novotel.
