Do airline pilots need more training? Captain Sully Sullenberger discussed the need for more airline training when he joined me on this episode of Mondays With Marlo.
Because flying has never been safer, most airlines don't invest heavily in pilot training. They usually require pilots to train only toward regulatory standards -- and not anything more than what's required. This means that pilots who are interested in going above and beyond have to do it on their own time. Airlines should focus now on avoiding complacency in training so that pilots are as prepared as possible for all types of emergencies.
