'The Voice': Judith Hill Gets Emotional Singing Her Former Mentor Michael Jackson's Song (VIDEO)

Judith Hill had to tap into emotions that were still raw with her performance on "The Voice." Her coach, Adam Levine selected Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel," which hit close to home. Hill was a back-up singer and featured performer with the King of Pop.

Hill told Levine that she worried that people might think she was taking advantage of her connection to her former mentor, but Levine told her that this was her paying tribute to a man who meant so much to her personally.

While it was still an emotional moment, Hill was able to channel those feelings into her performance, gaining rave reviews from the judges. Even Carson Daly had words of encouragement for her after she sang.

"It almost conjured the same emotions you’re feeling right now, just hearing the song," Usher said. "I miss him. I miss him so much.”

Critics seemed mixed, though, about Hill. On the one hand, there's Hollywood Life saying that she's the one to beat. "It was emotional for Judith, but she rocked it! Her sexy performance impressed all the judges — like all of her performances do!” they wrote.

Buddy TV has a different take altogether. "Enough already, we get it, Judith used to sing with Michael Jackson," they wrote. "I still don't give a crap about her as a singer or her whole style. It's the kind of thing where I get why the professional singers coaching this show obsess over her, but it's not for us regular folks.”

The competition continues on "The Voice," Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
