ABC News' 'Nightline' Primetime Will Be Re-Branded 'The Lookout'

ABC News' upcoming primetime edition of "Nightline" will be re-branded as "The Lookout."

Earlier this year, the network pushed "Nightline" one hour back, from 11:35 p.m. to 12:35 a.m., in order to move Jimmy Kimmel's late night show up. It also planned to air an extra hour of "Nightline" at 9 p.m. on Fridays. TV Newser reported on Thursday that the new hour will be called "The Lookout," after the network had also considered "Nightline: Two Truths and a Lie."

The primetime edition was originally scheduled to start in March, but will now debut Wednesday, May 29 and air through the summer. "Like any show on the network, our success on the air will determine the future," an ABC News spokesperson told TV Newser.

The scheduling change for "Nightline" reportedly came as a result of Kimmel's contract talks with ABC. In its previous timeslot, the newsmagazine used to beat Jay Leno and David Letterman in total viewers and the key 25-54 demographic. It has fewer viewers at 12:35 a.m. now, but according to TV Newser, performs better than the second half of Kimmel's show used to in the timeslot.
