Who says Silicon Valley is a boys club?

Well, a lot of people--many of whom are making some very good points.

But that doesn't mean that the San Francisco Bay Area's technology sector hasn't provided a host of opportunities for women, many of whom have risen up to become among the most powerful and influential figures in the world.

When Forbes released its list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women for 2013 earlier this week, the Bay Area held a commanding presence. And all of them, save for one very high-profile political exception, came from the world of technology.

The rankings, complied every year since 2004, are based on a combination of money, media presence and the overall impact these woman have across both their given industries and the culture at large.
