Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) took time on the Senate floor Thursday to educate new Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) on Washington politics.
"Maybe the senator from Utah ought to learn a little bit more about how business has been done in the Congress of the United States," McCain said.
The exchange started with Lee objecting to the lack of debate over the debt limit on the Senate floor and claimed that the American people do not trust "secret back-room deals."
McCain was quick to respond to the first-term senator with a crash course in Washington politics.
"If the senator from Utah wants to get rid of the 'back room' ... then what is the process?" McCain said. "The senator from Utah got another way of reconciling legislation between the House and the Senate? Of course he doesn't."
