Chris Brown's fender bender last week might have been a hit and run, and the accident could land the singer behind bars.
On May 21, Brown and on-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran were involved in a car crash in Los Angeles. The 24-year-old hit a Mercedes with his Range Rover while en route to a recording studio. He and Tran were seen taking photos of the incident and talking with the other driver. No cops were called.
But TMZ is reporting that Brown may be the subject of a hit and run investigation, after allegedly refusing to give his driver's license number to the driver he crashed into. He also supposedly gave her false insurance information.
Now the Los Angeles Police Department reportedly wants to speak with him.
The LAPD says in the case of a traffic collision, all parties involved should exchange driver’s license numbers, vehicle license numbers, names, addresses and phone numbers, as well as insurance information.
Brown's camp denies any hit and run allegations, according to "Extra." Sources close to Brown told "Extra" he gave all the correct information following the incident. Afterward, his lawyer reportedly attempted to contact the driver, but she hung up on him. The LAPD has not yet been in touch with the star.
TMZ notes Brown could be in violation of his probation -- a five-year sentence he was handed in 2009 after assaulting Rihanna. Last month, the singer's probation came into question after prosecutors accused him of failing to complete his 180 hours of community labor after he pleaded guilty. He has a court date scheduled for June 10.
A representative for Brown could not be immediately reached for comment.
Meanwhile, the "Fine China" singer spent Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas with Tran, according to E! News. The two were spotted soaking up some sun at the Palms Pool at the Palms Casino Resort, where he later gave an impromptu performance to partygoers.
