Erica Bovino, Mom, Delivers Her Own Baby At Home (VIDEO)

WATCH: Mom Delivers Her Own Baby At Home

A Connecticut mom is being called a superhero after delivering her own baby in the middle of the night.

Erica Bovino was in labor for 30 hours when she gave birth to her first son Jack, who is now 3. So, she explained to NBC Connecticut, when labor with her second child started at 1 a.m. on May 6th, she counted on having plenty of time.

According to the report, Bovino originally planned on having a home birth assisted by a midwife, but because her due date was not for another five days, she was home alone. Bovino's husband, Paul Sulzicki, was working the overnight shift as a police officer.

Bovino realized quickly that this delivery was not going to be anything like her first. She "got on all fours on her bed and rocked back and forth," the (now) mom of two told Lisa Flam of "Today Moms." And then she went into the bathroom, squatted, and her new baby, named Stella, was born within five minutes.

“I remember saying, ‘Come on, Baby. Come on, Baby,’” Bovino told "Today."

Dad had no idea that his new baby girl would be there waiting for him after work. When Sulzicki finally got home, he called 911 and paramedics transported Mom and Stella to the hospital.

"Everyone at the hospital called her a super woman, a trooper. Just absolutely amazing what she did by herself," Paul told NBC.

Both mom and baby are both doing well, but there were complications. The "Today" show reports that there was a lot of blood loss during delivery because the umbilical cord was severed, but Stella was still able to stay in the room with Mommy.

Though Bovino's experience is certainly incredible, it isn't totally surprising that baby number two arrived much faster than her first -- second kids often arrive in half the time their older siblings did. Laura Corio, M.D., an ob-gyn at Mt. Sinai Hospital told Parenting.com that women's bodies are more prepared for childbirth the second time around so labor is likely to be much shorter.

Bovino says she can't wait to tell her daughter her amazing birth story.
