'RHOC': Tamra Barney Reveals Suicide Attempt (VIDEO)

On “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Tamra Barney was the keynote speaker at a women’s expo -- and made a shocking confession: she attempted suicide in her 20s.

“I took a bunch of prescription medication that I found in my mom’s cupboard, then my mom found me and they took me to the hospital. They admitted me into a mental hospital,” Tamra explained. She said the suicide attempt came after her first divorce, when she was caught in a cycle of low self-esteem and letting men control her. Fortunately she’s in a much better place now.

Tamra's emotional reveal helped get the show trending on Twitter.

The Stir was sad to hear about Tamra’s tragic past -- but thought it sounded like Tamra was blaming other people for her problems.

BuddyTV agreed, saying Tamra’s speech seemed out of place. “Instead of giving these women useful information or even being entertaining, she opts for a sob story about how she didn't feel loved growing up. If it weren't so ridiculously self-indulgent, it would be hilarious.”
