LOOK: Cat Rescued After 6 Days Trapped In Tornado Rubble

A 13-year-old Texas Boy Scout is being credited with rescuing an elderly cat that went missing for 6 days following the devastating tornado in Moore, Okla. last Monday.

Justin Hulme Rangel of Carrollton, Texas accompanied his Boy Scout troop to Moore to help with the relief effort on Sunday, according to Life With Cats. He was helping in a search through the remains of Geoff and Jo Humann's home when he found their missing cat, Egor, sitting in his litter box, Dallas News reports.

Justin's mother, Summer Hulme, told the paper that her son initially feared the cat had died and told others to look away. “I figured after six days, he was gone. But he started to move and we dug him out,” Justin said.

Egor, who is also 13 years old, was taken to the Oklahoma State University Teaching Hospital. He was reported to be dehydrated but in good health.

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Food and Forestry shared the reunion story on its Facebook page on Sunday and it has received over 1,000 likes. According to the post, Jo Humann told the department's staff, "Our family is complete."

Another Oklahoma resident, Barbara Garcia, also has an incredible pet reunion story. She found her dog buried under tornado rubble during an interview with CBS, and donations having been pouring in to help her recover from the disaster ever since.
